Also today, April 21st, Music Week magazine publishes it's "Green Issue", while on March 29th Billboard magazine published its "The Green Issue". Clearly the Music Industry is beginning to think green.

Julie’s Bicycle is an organisation established from within the music industry to support the music industry, and to find ways to reduce the carbon footprint of the UK music industry. Suggestions include using biodiesel for tour buses and switching to recycled cardboard CD cases.

But what festival organisers and musicians do not know, is that the carbon footprint of one black Tour T-shirt can be up to 8KG CO2! and one hooded sweatshirt can be up to 40KG CO2!

A T-shirt can weigh only 173g, and a hooded sweatshirt can weigh only 696g, and so the weight of green house gas released is almost sixty times heavier than the weight of the merchandise itself.
